Mariners Snatch Late Win
|
Safeco Field was the site for American League action featuring the Detroit Tigers and Seattle Mariners.
The Detroit Tigers got a sterling performance from pitcher Chuck Watts, but the Seattle Mariners still prevailed, 5-1. Watts threw 5.2 innings of shutout ball. The win takes Seattle to 14-11.
Keith Bundy, who leads the AL in RBI with 27, aided the Seattle cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the designated hitter drove in one run.
"Good win for us," said Bundy. "We'll lace up our cleats and go after the next one."
