Houston pitcher Humberto Valenzuela did his part in helping his team beat the Cleveland Guardians, 11-3. The right-hander kept opposing batters from doing too much damage. The winning pitcher was Valenzuela, now 4-0. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 9. Brad Thaler notched his 1st save of the season.

Hideyuki Takahashi, who finished 5th in the AL in OPS with 1.022 last year, took Cleveland hurler Nick Wise deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Astros on top, 2-0. In all, Takahashi had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
