A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox.

Toronto registered a win at Rogers Centre by beating the Boston Red Sox, 8-6. Pitcher Billy Demeter was one reason why the Blue Jays triumphed. The save went to Benny Morgan, number 1 for him.

Vic Rivera had a big 3-run home run for the Blue Jays in the bottom of the first inning. With Toronto trailing 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a curveball from 25-year old left-handed pitcher John Curtis and punished it. The result was his 8th home run of the season, which put the Blue Jays on top, 3-1.

"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Demeter told the Toronto Observer.

Toronto goes to 17-11.
