The Minnesota Twins topped the Cleveland Guardians, 4-2, in American League action at Target Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Minnesota pitcher Russell Cottrell. Cottrell went the distance for Minnesota. He gave up 2 runs on 8 hits. Cleveland now has a record of 6-22.

The Twins grabbed the lead in the bottom of the fifth. With one out, Bill Widby, who leads the AL in bases on balls with 21, hit a solo home run off Reed Harris, putting Minnesota in front, 3-1. For Widby, it was his 7th home run of the season.

After the game, Minnesota manager Chris Greuling applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
