LumberKings Double Up Bees, 4-2
|
Clinton pitcher Marty Oliver had a large part in his team beating the Burlington Bees, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Oliver, now 5-4, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 6, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Clinton's record now stands at 49-70, placing them 5th in the Western Division.
Clinton used a timely hit from Eric Borer to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the seventh inning to put the LumberKings on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Marty made some good pitches in some situations he needed to make them in," said Clinton manager Jose Ursua.
