Injury Sidelines Johnny Alvarado For Year
Thursday, June 5th , 2098
The doctors have spoken and Johnny Alvarado of the Charlotte Knights didn't like what he heard. The 26-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Alvarado sustained his season-ending injury during the Buffalo Bisons game yesterday at Coca-Cola Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Charlotte medical staff reported Alvarado had a torn labrum and would be absent from the lineup for at least 12-13 months.

He has made 13 relief appearances this year with 4 saves. Alvarado has achieved a 0-1 record while holding opposing hitters to a .211 batting average and posting a 3.38 ERA. He has tossed 24 innings, given up 19 base hits, fanned 28 and issued 9 walks.
