Padilla Fires Shutout in Columbus Win
Saturday, June 12th, 2055
Jose Padilla led the Columbus Clippers to a 1-0 shutout victory over the Louisville Bats at Louisville Slugger Field today.
"My pitching coach told me before the game just to bear down and focus," Padilla recalled later. "He said no one was going to hit me if I'm throwing a good breaking ball with good location."
Padilla yielded 2 hits and had 13 strikeouts and 2 walks in the standout performance.
"I thought he put the ball where he wanted to," Louisville manager Gianni Zayas said. "And that's just about the whole secret to pitching."
His record for the year is 6-1 in 7 starts and Padilla has a 1.94 ERA.
