In a remarkable performance, Tennessee Smokies starter Matt Whitlatch beat the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, 7-0, in an impressive 4-hit shutout.
"My arm felt good, mechanics were good and my stuff was working," he said later. "It doesn't get any better than this."
The Smokies hurler finished with 6 strikeouts and 2 walks. He showed pinpoint control and a sharp fastball.
"It was a rough one for my guys," Pensacola manager Evan Salinas said, following the game. "We weren't at our best and their guy was."
This year, Whitlatch has 5 wins and 1 loss and a 2.70 ERA.
