Ambro Named Top Reliever for SL

He may only be 23, but Josh Ambro of the Birmingham Barons has already established himself as one of the elite relievers in the Southern League.

The reliever was today named the SL Reliever of the Year winner for 2098.

He won the award with a strong year that saw him put up 23 saves in 56 relief appearances and 145 strikeouts in 97.2 innings. He had a record of 4-4 to go with his 1.11 ERA.

He received 9 first place votes out of a possible 10. Michael Garrett of the Jackson Generals finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Aaron Higgs of the Mississippi Braves finished third.
