Blaze Vera Strikes out 15 Sunday, July 6th , 2110 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Sal Vera, the Bakersfield Blaze topped the Modesto Nuts by a score of 9-0 at Historic Sam Lynn Ballpark. The 27-year-old Vera brought his top game to the mound, striking out 15 batters while allowing 6 hits and giving up 1 walk. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Nuts manager Steve Kamps said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." So far this season, Vera has 2 wins and 3 losses and a 5.33 ERA.
