Bayze and Burgess Fight, Get Suspended Saturday, September 5th , 2111 After an intense confrontation, both the Quakes Josh Bayze and the Blaze Mark Burgess were handed their punishments today. The league commissioner's office issued suspensions for an on-the-field conflict that occurred at a recent Rancho Cucamonga-Bakersfield game. Josh Bayze will miss 5 games, while Mark Burgess was suspended for 3 games. "Sometimes we go too far and have to pay the consequences," Josh Bayze commented later. "Hopefully cooler heads will prevail the next time we play." This season, Bayze is swinging the bat at a .250 rate with 34 hits in 136 at-bats. To date he has hit 5 home runs, scored 19 runs and driven in 13. This year, his stats show Burgess has no saves in 7 relief appearances with a 1-0 record and 7.00 ERA. |
