Vazquez Twirls 2-0 Shutout Saturday, August 3rd , 2097 Edwin Vazquez of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes was cool and collected on the mound, leading his club to a shutout victory over the High Desert Mavericks, 2-0. "He was mixing his pitches real well and keeping his composure on the mound," Rancho Cucamonga manager Carlos Peralta said later. "When Edwin does that, good things happen." The left-hander had 11 strikeouts, 2 walks and allowed 3 hits in the win. So far this season Vazquez has a 11-3 record, 19 starts, 138.2 innings, 155 strikeouts and a 2.21 ERA.
