Round 1 Goes the Distance, San Jose Prevails

It went the distance, but the San Jose Giants finally disposed of the Visalia Rawhide 3-2 in the series clincher at San Jose Municipal Stadium.

Winning the finale gave the Giants the series, 3-2. They will now advance to the Round 2.

The Most Valuable Player Award went to San Jose left fielder Carlos Rodriguez. He batted .300 in the series, collecting 2 RBIs and scoring 4 runs.

"Carlos deserves it," said Giants manager Rogelio Ramirez. "He was the glue that held our club together."

The San Jose Giants will play against the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes in the next round. Rancho Cucamonga won their series against the High Desert Mavericks 3 games to 0. The Round 2 schedule will be announced after the Round 1 finishes.
