Wimmer Named Top Reliever for CAL Monday, October 6th , 2110 Tyler Wimmer said he thinks hitters often underestimate him, as he's only 25 years old. But he'll certainly be getting a lot more respect now, as the San Jose Giants rising star has won the California League Reliever of the Year for 2110. He captured the award on the strength of his 2.69 ERA over 130.2 innings. He also had 12 saves in 39 relief appearances, 146 strikeouts and only 40 walks. He received 6 first place votes out of a possible 10. Brian Young of the San Jose Giants finished second in voting with 4 first place votes, while Mike Domzalski of the Lake Elsinore Storm finished third.
