Rancho Cucamonga Wins Round 2 Crown
Friday, September 26th , 2098
A celebratory mood filled the air as the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes closed out the season with a 15-5 victory over the San Jose Giants at LoanMart Field to capture the Round 2, 4-3.

Giving the Giants credit for a hard-fought series, Quakes players said they believed throughout the postseason that their "destiny" was to be crowned California League champions.

"We felt like this was our year all season long," said right fielder Matt Pettit, who was named series MVP. "It was our destiny to win it and we did."

It was the 7th in franchise history. During the South Division regular season Rancho Cucamonga put up a 94-46 record and finished first.

"They're the champions and they deserve it," said a dejected San Jose manager Rogelio Ramirez. "We played good ball, they just played better than us."
