At the young age of only 22, Steve Mitchell has been named the California League Reliever of the Year winner for 2098.

The future appears bright for the Stockton Ports relief ace, who captured the award with 20 saves in 68 relief appearances, 139 strikeouts in 106.1 innings and a record of 11-10 to go with his 2.88 ERA.

He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 10. Kyle Brazill of the San Jose Giants finished second in voting with 2 first place votes, while Matt West of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes finished third with 1 first place vote.
