King Takes CAL Pitcher of the Year Award

A sparkling 14-8 mark for the year just about says it all -- that's what Colin King of the San Jose Giants put up this season. That's why the California League rated him the #1 hurler in the league and named him the 2107 Pitcher of the Year Award winner.

He held opposing clubs to a .236 batting average and compiled a 1.92 ERA. King stood out with 170 strikeouts while giving up 147 hits and 40 walks in 164 innings.

He received 8 first place votes out of a possible 10. Antonio Rico of the Lake Elsinore Storm finished second in voting, while Miguel Fregoso of the Lancaster JetHawks finished third with 2 first place votes.
