Sorensen Slams 3 Homers for Cubs
Saturday, June 21st , 2087
South Bend Cubs left fielder Matt Sorensen put on a dazzling display of power today at Fifth Third Field against the Dayton Dragons. In the 11-3 Cubs victory Sorensen penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts.

"He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Dayton manager Tony Lacey said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well."

Along with his three home runs, the 23-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

"Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Sorensen said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today."

Matt Sorensen hit a solo-shot off Leonardo Mendez in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Leonardo Mendez in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Colt Beaulieu in the 6th and flied out in the 8th.

In 59 games this season Sorensen is batting .302 with 62 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 33 runs and driven in 29.
