He may have less experience than most of his Midwest League peers, but that didn't slow Kyle Long down at all in 2107.
At the age of 24, the Lansing right fielder has been named the winner of the Midwest League Most Valuable Player Award.
He had a .329 batting average and a .409 on-base percentage this year. In 118 games he piled up 152 hits, 40 doubles, 5 triples, 17 home runs, 77 RBIs and 86 runs scored.
"I'm blown away by the season I was able to put together," he said. "I'm looking forward to trying to do it all again next year."
He received 7 first place votes out of a possible 16. Travis Pass of the South Bend Cubs finished second in voting with 5 first place votes, while Brad Richardson of the South Bend Cubs finished third with 2 first place votes.
