Alicea Collects Cycle
Saturday, September 5th , 2071
Some days, a great game just isn't enough.
Wil Alicea of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes found that out the hard way today. Alicea had a great day at the plate, pounding out 4 hits in 7 at-bats and hitting for the cycle, but watched the Kansas City (SS-A) Royals take a 7-6 victory.
"It is a frustrating feeling to know you did so much and still lost," the 19-year-old left fielder said later. "But it is a feeling you have to get used to if you want to play baseball for very long. It just happens."
Alicea had 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run, as well as 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored in the contest.
Wil Alicea struck out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, hit a two-run triple in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, hit a solo-shot off Jimmy Ford in the 9th, struck out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.
This season Alicea has hit 10 home runs and posted a .233 batting average.
