Bunting Muzzles Kingsport Offense
Sunday, August 30th , 2111
The Kingsport Mets were almost helpless in their 2-0 loss to the Bluefield Blue Jays and hurler Brian Bunting. Bunting kept the Mets confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Bunting," Kingsport manager Miguel Escobedo said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 24-year-old right-hander had no walks and 10 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Bunting said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
So far this season, Bunting has a record of 5-1 with 63 strikeouts and 11 walks in 59.2 innings and a 2.72 ERA.
