Pitcher of the Year Award Goes to Delgado

Most of the time the starting pitchers get the glory, but not this year. A Kingsport reliever, Raul Delgado, has been voted the 2098 Pitcher of the Year Award in the Appalachian League.

The Mets ace appeared in 23 games and saved 5 of them. He had a 5-1 record with a 1.05 ERA. Delgado registered 72 strikeouts in 68.2 innings and limited opposing hitters to a .193 batting average.

He received 13 first place votes out of a possible 14. Preston Watkins of the San Diego (Rk+) Padres finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Adam Vance of the Greeneville Astros finished third.
