Mata Earns AZL Player of the Week Monday, August 11th, 2059 Cincinnati (AZL) Reds third baseman Raul Mata walked away with the Arizona Rookie League Player of the Week Award today after putting up some impressive numbers over the past seven days. "The Reds fans are really behind me right now," said the 18-year-old. "That helps. They give you the confidence to go out there and do better." Mata batted .538 (7-for-13) with 3 home runs and 8 RBIs this week on his way to the award. For the season, Mata is hitting at a .364 clip with 8 home runs, 20 RBIs and has scored 12 runs. He has 20 hits, 3 walks and a .417 on-base percentage. |
