Banks Socks it to Rams, Cracks 5 Hits
Wednesday, February 6th, 2036
A jubilant Zach Banks joined the postgame press conference at Ballpark of Edgecomb today to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Lake Mary Rams pitching staff he had just vanquished.
"It may not have looked like it," said the Oviedo Lions second baseman, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."
That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-6 hitting performance, which led the Lions to a 14-1 win.
"He made it look easy," said Brad Yeo, manager of the Rams. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."
Zach Banks hit a two-run home run off Jim Unknown in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 6th, singled in the 7th and grounded out in the 9th.
Banks on the season is batting .333 with 4 home runs. His totals include 16 RBIs and 20 runs scored. He has played in 29 games.
