For Chris Alderman, it was a red-letter day. The New York Yankees third baseman slapped his 2500th career hit. That his team defeated the Houston Astros, 6-2, made it even sweeter.
His manager paid tribute to Alderman after the game: "I've followed Chris since he came into the league," he said. "Fine ballplayer. Fine work ethic. I'm not surprised by what he's achieved."
The 36-year-old Alderman finished the day with 3 hits in 5 at-bats.
In 2122 career games Alderman has hit .298 with 2501 hits, 467 home runs, 1448 RBIs and scored 1431 runs.
