Player of the Week: Montalvo of the Rays Monday, August 26th, 2047 No single hit brought Tobias Montalvo Player of the Week honors -- the Tampa Bay Rays right fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Montalvo. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too aggressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Montalvo stroked 9 hits in 21 at-bats while cranking out 4 home runs, 8 RBIs and 7 runs scored. So far in 2047 Montalvo is batting .283 with 34 home runs, 81 RBIs and 72 runs scored. He has 116 hits in 410 at-bats and a .401 OBP. |
