Venema's Hit Streak Reaches 20 Games Sunday, July 3rd , 2089 The hot bat of Cubs first baseman Soren Venema continues to churn out hit after hit, game after game. His consecutive-game hitting streak now numbers 20 games after he went 2-for-4 in today's 5-2 loss to the Cardinals at Wrigley Field. "I'm trying not to think about it much," he said later. "I don't want to mess with whatever zone I'm in." Soren Venema grounded out in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and struck out in the 8th. In the current season, Venema has put up a .281 batting average with 85 hits, 16 home runs, 40 RBI and scored 50 runs. |
