Goodwin Gets 300th Save, Shuts Down Angels, 5-3
Tuesday, June 3rd , 2110
When Drew Goodwin got to the ballpark today, he just knew it was going to be a special day.
The 39-year-old reliever was sitting just one save short of 300 for his career and anxious to reach that much-coveted milestone.
"I just had a feeling that today was the day," Goodwin told reporters after the game, a 5-3 Seattle Mariners win over the Los Angeles Angels. "I was a bit nervous before the game, but there wasn't much time for nerves once I started to warm up."
The newest member of the 300 club pitched 1 innings, allowed no runs and 1 hit in his milestone effort.
Since making his debut, Goodwin has accounted for 300 saves. In 962 games, he has a 79-67 won-lost mark with 1136 strikeouts in 1111.2 innings.
