Slaughter Nabs AL Monthly Rookie Award Tuesday, July 1st , 2110 When it came to hitting the baseball, Steve Slaughter had few peers in the American League last month. The gifted left fielder for Boston tagged opposing pitchers for a .358 average and was voted the Rookie of the Month for June.
