Rays End Whitaker's Streak Saturday, July 21st , 2096 Lady Luck was not on the side of Greg Whitaker or his teammates today at Jon Nunez Sr. Stadium. Everything went the way of the Tampa Bay Rays, who not only came away with the 9-3 victory over Toronto, but also held Whitaker hitless in 4 at-bats to put an end to his 22-game hitting streak. "It was a good run," Whitaker said afterward. "It would be much easier to take right now if we had won." Whitaker is hitting .342 for the season with 15 home runs, 59 RBIs and 64 runs scored. He has 120 hits in 351 at-bats and played in 88 games. |
