San Diego's Marquez Wins Trophy Wednesday, August 1st , 2108 Ricky Marquez might not have fully digested the impact of winning July's National League Rookie of the Month award when he got the news earlier today, but the 23-year-old quickly learned that he was no longer your typical rookie. Posting a mark of 8-0 won-lost record will do that. In 0 starts he tossed 28.1 innings with 28 strikeouts and a 1.59 ERA. Opposing teams hit .165 against him during the month. Not bad for a first-year man. To this point in the season, Marquez has rung up no saves in 34 relief appearances. He has also crafted a 3.40 ERA, 17 wins and 2 losses and 73 strikeouts in 84.2 innings. |
