LF Wheaton Receives 3-Game Suspension Sunday, August 17th , 2110 Following an intense confrontation with the home plate umpire in which he was ejected, Pirates left fielder Jesse Wheaton was suspended 3 games by the league. Wheaton had to be physically restrained by his manager and appeared to make a few threats toward the umpire. He was upset by a called third strike in a game with Arizona at PNC Park. Wheaton could not be reached for comment on the suspension. So far this year, Wheaton is batting .250 with 16 home runs, 59 RBIs and 52 runs scored. |
