Patterson Hits for the Cycle
Saturday, October 4th , 2081
At Citi Field today, Joe Patterson led Miami to a 13-10 victory over the New York Mets by hitting for the cycle, one of baseball's more difficult feats.
"Usually the triple is the hardest one to get, but I was most worried about the homer today because the ball wasn't carrying," Patterson said later. "When I took it deep, I was expecting the ball to die on the warning track, so it was sweet seeing the ump give me the signal to circle the bases."
In addition to going 4-for-6, Patterson chalked up 7 runs batted in and scored 2 runs in an exceptional performance.
Joe Patterson flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run triple in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a three-run double in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Eddie Salas in the 9th.
Patterson is hitting .263 this year with 9 home runs, 74 RBIs and 69 runs scored. He has 154 hits in 586 at-bats, 42 walks and a .312 on-base percentage. Patterson has played in 152 games.
