League Gives Bevan and Trejo 4-Game Suspensions
Sunday, September 2nd , 2108
The league commissioner announced that two players had been suspended for inappropriate conduct. He told BNN, "What I'm trying to do with these penalties is say, we can't stop you from doing these things, but if you do them, you have to understand you will pay the consequences."
Baseball can be an intense game and on-field confrontations happen. However, the league disciplinary policy is to punish, sometimes severely, those who decide to settle things with their fists.
When Mark Bevan of the Milwaukee Brewers and Roberto Trejo of the Washington Nationals got into a scuffle during a game, both players knew that a suspension would be forthcoming.
Sure enough, today it was announced that both players will each receive a 4-game suspension for their actions in a recent game at Nationals Park.
This season, Bevan has delivered 121 hits in 452 at-bats for a .268 average with 17 home runs. He is getting on base at a .346 clip and his totals also include 52 RBIs and 54 runs scored. This year Bevan has played in 126 games.
For the year, Trejo has collected no saves in 36 relief appearances. He has also rung up 61 strikeouts and 18 walks in 60 innings while registering a 4.05 ERA and a 3-3 won-lost mark.
