Ramirez Touches All Bases, Hits for Cycle
Monday, August 16th, 2060
Jorge Ramirez truly did it all at Safeco Field today.
The Arizona Diamondbacks center fielder hit for the cycle -- collecting 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run -- as he paced his club to victory, 9-2 over the Seattle Mariners.
"You know that sweet sound you hear when you hit the ball just right? I heard that every time today," Ramirez said later. "It was a heck of a feeling."
It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Seattle pitching for 4 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record books. Ramirez also racked up 1 run batted in and 2 runs scored in the game.
Jorge Ramirez tripled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Drew Estes in the 7th and flied out in the 9th.
This year Ramirez has 4 home runs and a .293 batting average.
