NL Picks September's Top Pitcher
Monday, October 1st , 2114
In September, the top-rated pitcher in the National League was a reliever. It's not a common occurrence, but it does happen occasionally. The Atlanta Braves fine hurler, Ryan Washington stood out so much that he was picked the best Pitcher of the Month by the National League.
The Braves bullpen ace was brilliant with 10 saves in 13 relief appearances, a 2-0 won-lost mark and 0.69 ERA. He worked 13 innings, allowed 8 hits, struck out 17 and walked 4.
This season, Washington has been credited with 39 saves. In 58 relief appearances and 56 innings pitched he has a 5-5 won-lost mark, 2.57 ERA and 58 strikeouts
