Cubs Heading to Division Series Saturday, October 8th , 2107 It's a sweet sweep for the Chicago Cubs and they have won the Wild Card. The San Diego Padres were not able to keep pace with the Cubs and dropped the series in short order, losing, 11-10, in the deciding game. "This wasn't really the effort we hoped for," said San Diego manager Tim Lentz. It's now on to the Division Series for Chicago after their 2-0 series win. Leading the way for the winners was center fielder Chayton Buffington, who was named MVP. For the series, Buffington hit .500 with a .545 on-base percentage.
