Washington Nationals Ship Gross to Seattle
Thursday, December 27th, 2063
The Washington Nationals and Seattle Mariners have put the finishing touches on a deal that was weeks in the making. Washington will part with 22-year-old minor league 3B Jim Johnson, 21-year-old minor league RHP Kevin Gross and a 1st round draft pick, while the Mariners have dealt 26-year-old 3B Mark Melton and $5,000,000 in cash.

"This one took a while to figure out," said Washington general manager Dan Silva. "We must have gone back to the drawing board five or six times over the past few weeks. I'm glad we finally got the deal done. I think it is a good one for both clubs."

Melton has played in 373 games and is hitting .309 lifetime with 194 RBIs, 480 hits, 89 doubles, 9 triples and 54 home runs. He has scored 225 times and stolen 52 bases.
