New York Yankees Ship McClatchey to Baltimore Tuesday, December 7th, 2066 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that New York and Baltimore have made a swap with 28-year-old C Tristan McClatchey being shipped to the Orioles and in return the Yankees would get 28-year-old RHP Jose Rubio. New York general manager Larry Robinson said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the New York organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. For his career McClatchey has batted .257 and hit 40 home runs. Through the years Rubio has fashioned a 66-45 mark, 3.91 ERA and thrown 911.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .218 lifetime against him and he has logged 1188 career strikeouts. |
