MLB News: Draft Pool Revealed Tuesday, January 31st , 2073 For the entrants in this year's rookie draft, released today by the league, the possibilities are endless. Some will immediately seize their opportunity to play in the bigs with a venom, doggedly working their way up through the system to arrive on the pro circuit in three to five years, if they are lucky. Others will struggle, have their hopes dashed, reborn and dashed again, all the while not fully giving up on the dream. Still others will take each day as it comes, while not losing sight of the end-game. They will figure it out, quietly work their way into the professional ranks and have solid, if not spectacular, careers in Major League Baseball. At any rate, teams now can scout the draft pool for the next 30 days. The Transactions page also gets a new section dedicated to the pool and will be available for 150 days prior to draft day. The early favorites to be high picks are the following: 1. Lance McPherson, 21 year-old RHP out of college. 2. Steve Coutts, 18 year-old RHP out of high-school. 3. Michael Trulson, 18 year-old RHP out of high-school. 4. Blake Lucia, 21 year-old CF out of college. 5. Antonio Velazco, 18 year-old CF out of high-school. 6. Kevin Durham, 17 year-old RF out of high-school. 7. Ed Ferguson, 20 year-old 2B out of college. 8. Keith Faulkner, 22 year-old CF out of college. 9. Philip Hazard, 21 year-old CF out of college. 10.
