Argueta Spins 17-K Game Saturday, August 31st , 2080 Led by an outstanding performance from starter Alfredo Argueta, the Long Island Ducks topped the High Point Rockers today by a score of 7-1 at Bethpage Ballpark. The 28-year-old Argueta brought his top game to the mound, striking out 17 batters while allowing 4 hits and giving up no walks. "He made a lot of good pitches out there," Rockers manager Aaron Crawford said. "He made some of our guys look bad. We didn't help matters, but we really have to give him credit -- he didn't make many mistakes." In 23 starts this year Argueta has posted 12 wins while suffering 6 losses. He has pitched 161 innings, allowed 111 hits, struck out 234 and has a 2.35 ERA. |
