Murphy Picked August's Best Newcomer Sunday, September 1st , 2080 For a man of advanced years in baseball terms, John Murphy is defying all logic by wading through his first Atlantic League season. Nonetheless, Murphy is proving a formidable performer for Sugar Land, at least as far as this past August is concerned. Today he was hailed as the Atlantic League Rookie of the Month. He put up a .292 average with 10 home runs, 20 RBIs and 17 runs scored. For the season Murphy has produced 89 hits in 382 at-bats for a .233 average with 27 home runs and gotten on base at a .301 clip. |
