Sugar Land Takes Round 1 in Deciding Game Thursday, September 12th , 2080 In a series that had a little bit of everything, the Sugar Land Skeeters have edged the High Point Rockers. The two rival clubs went the distance in the tightly-contested Round 1, with a 4-3 win in the clincher being the difference for Sugar Land and giving them the ticket to the Round 2 with a 4-3 series triumph. "We never stopped believing in ourselves. When push came to shove we were going to get it done," said John Murphy, who was named series MVP. For the series, Murphy hit .429 with a .484 on-base percentage. He had 3 home runs, drove in 7 RBI and scored 6 runs. The Sugar Land Skeeters don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lancaster Barnstormers - Long Island Ducks series. That series is tied at 3 games apiece. The Round 2 is scheduled to begin on September 13th , 2080. |
