Ruiz Packs a Wallop -- Hits 3 HR Against Anchors Thursday, July 5th , 2068 It was a special day for Leon Ruiz, but less so for the Ruidoso Osos. Ruiz slammed three home runs against the Pittsburg Anchors, but the Anchors outhit him and got the win by a score of 11-6. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game -- I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Ruidoso second baseman finished the day at Gabrielle Field at Legion Park with 4 hits in 4 at-bats, 4 runs batted in and 3 runs scored. Leon Ruiz singled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Erik Harris in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Erik Harris in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Prince Daniel in the 8th. Thus far in 2068 Ruiz is hitting .309 with 7 home runs, 18 RBIs, 12 runs scored and has compiled a .382 OBP. |
