Mayorga Belts 5 Hits Thursday, July 12th , 2068 Garden City right fielder Ivan Mayorga could do no wrong in today's 8-0 win over the Pupfish as he collected 5 hits. "Things were in his favor in every one of his at-bats," Pupfish skipper Brooks Gleason said to the press corps after the game. "He got hitters' counts." Mayorga agreed, saying that getting ahead early in the counts was "the key" to his game. "Once you get ahead, it makes it a lot easier because you get a better pitch to hit," he said. "You know the pitcher has to come in with it. And you're ready." Ivan Mayorga doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run double in the 6th and singled in the 8th. This season Mayorga has delivered 54 hits in 161 at-bats for a .335 average with 5 home runs. He is getting on base at a .377 clip and his totals also include 27 RBIs and 26 runs scored.
