Mono #1 Rookie This Year Monday, August 27th , 2068 For several weeks the rumor mill had it that the 2068 Newcomer of the Year Award winner was a foregone conclusion and the trophy would go to Garden City left fielder, Chris Mono. It is no longer a rumor -- the Pecos League made it official today. Mono won the award by hitting .370 and collecting 78 hits, 33 home runs, 68 RBIs and 39 walks. He scored 59 runs and posted a .469 on-base percentage. He received 14 first place votes, as a unanimous winner. Efrain Varela of the Alpine Cowboys finished second in voting, while Cesar Plaza of the Roswell Invaders finished third.
