Wild Card Clinched by Saranac Lake Thursday, August 30th , 2068 For the Saranac Lake Surge, it's not how you start, but how you finish. That's the mantra the team is following after today qualifying for the playoffs. "We may be going into the playoffs as a wild card team, but we plan to finish the playoffs as champions," said center fielder Jose Ramirez. "There's no shortage of confidence from guys in our clubhouse." With a record of 33-33, there will of course be teams with better track records in the postseason. But team manager Ken Matsuzaka said his club has "infinite optimism" that they can win the franchise's 1st Empire Professional Baseball League championship. |
