Regardless of where Ricardo Chavez signs on next year, the 30-year-old will be considered a marquee pickup after his award-winning 2068 season with Plattsburgh. Chavez received word today that he has won the Empire Professional Baseball League Most Valuable Player Award.

The right fielder pounded out 89 hits, 20 doubles, 2 triples, and 3 home runs while hitting .394 and driving in 24 runs this season.

He received 3 first place votes out of a possible 6. Rick Tierney of the New Hampshire Wild finished second in voting with 1 first place vote, while Jimmy Timmers of the Plattsburgh Thunderbirds finished third with 2 first place votes.
