Nunez Parks 3 HR in the Seats Friday, July 20th , 2068 Eastside Diamond Hoppers left fielder Marcos Nunez put on a dazzling display of power today at Jimmy John's Field against the Birmingham-Bloomfield Beavers. In the 9-5 Diamond Hoppers victory Nunez penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Birmingham-Bloomfield manager Bobby Kovach said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 24-year-old had 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Nunez said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Marcos Nunez hit an RBI double in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Brent Stafford in the 2nd, struck out in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Brandon Ramirez in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Fernando Blanco in the 9th. This year Nunez is hitting at a .269 pace with 24 home runs and 58 RBIs. He has played in 49 games and scored 37 times. |
