Baseball fans saw a good contest between the Bowie Baysox and Richmond Flying Squirrels.
The Bowie Baysox picked up a win at Prince George's Stadium, knocking off the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 4-2. On the mound for Bowie was right-hander Steve McAloon. He played a key role in the triumph. Bowie reliever Danny Spruill snagged the win, upping his record to 1-0. Tim Solomon shouldered the loss.
Bowie took a 3-2 lead on Luis Perez's 1st triple of the season. The 2-run triple, which Perez hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Richmond pitcher Cesar Chapa visibly frustrated.
In postgame remarks, McAloon hailed his team's "grit."
The loss drops Richmond to 0-2.
